Account books, 1790-1812, and ledger, 1784-1806, listing business accounts with firms and individuals, along with recipes, lists of veterans of American Revolution, legal fees, accounts for cotton and indigo; "Public Securities," "Spinning Manufactory," and "Weaving Manufactory," and other transactions; [volume numbers assigned by SCL at time of accession]. Ledger, 10 Aug. 1784-1806, "Vol. I," [Manuscripts-Plb onsite] lists sales of indigo; accounts for estates; dues and membership, 1786, of Claremont Society; payments to Bethlehem School; recipes for bitters, cure for "watery dropsey," beer for "purifying the blood" made from potatoes, and uses of "Seneca Snake Root"; expenses, ca. 1791, for construction work on store including payments for hire of slave labor; and "Alphabetical list of fees due to Will'm Murrell as a Magistrate, 13 Aug. 1790"; and genealogical information re Murrell and Andrews families on endpapers. Portions of ledger, 1784-1806, Vol. I, transcribed as "Lists of Revolutionary Soldiers or Executors of Estates Involving Indents Issued to various Parties by the State of S.C."; volume lists names of veterans from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut [filed in Manuscripts-P as "Revolutionary Soldiers"]; index, pp. 15-18. Other volumes include account book, 1790-1795, "Vol. II," includes index to names of individuals such as Thomas Sumter and "Freeman Eli," volume lists accounts for indigo, corn, as well as "Account Claims," and "Account Obligations"; account book, 1790-1796, "Vol. III-filmed and returned ... 1974" available on microfilm roll R482. Account book, 1795-1799, "Vol. IV," with index; and account book, 1799-1812, "Vol. 5," from which the index and first 11 pages have been removed.
